How to Apply for a Student Loan
Getting started is simple. Here’s what you need to do:

Visit the ABSA Website → www.absa.co.za

Navigate to Student Loans under “Personal Loans”

Complete the Online Application or apply at your nearest ABSA branch

Submit Supporting Documents (see list below)
Who Can Apply
To qualify for an ABSA Study Loan, you must:

Be a South African citizen or permanent resident
-
Earn more than R3 000 per month
The loan can be taken out by:

A parent (with proof of income)
-
A sponsor or guardian (with proof of income)
-
A part-time student who is employed full-time and can provide proof of income
Loans are available for students studying full-time or part-time at GST Training Centre
What You Need to Apply
Make sure you have these documents ready:

Valid South African ID or smart card

Proof of residential address (e.g. municipal or rates bill, not older than 3 months)

Last 3 months’ payslips or bank statements

Final letter of acceptance or proof of registration from GST Training Centre

Proof of course costs (invoices/statements) for:

Study-related devices
